Driftpocalypse - Motorcycle vs Car Drift Battle 3
Tuesday, July 2, 2013
They emerge from their three-year stint unaware of the way their sideways shenanigans have altered the course of civilization. Urban streets are now the battlegrounds of high-powered drifters and horsepower is king. The playing field as Nick ‘Apex’ Brocha and Ernie ‘E-Dub’ Vigil knew it has changed. The Driftpocalypes is upon us, and you either buck up and go big or fade away into obscurity.
This time ‘E-Dub’ and ‘Apex’ source a pair of Triumph Daytona 675 sportbikes as their weapons of choice. Developed by Team Empire and Brocha, the Daytona 675s are equipped with Myrtle West 4-to-6-inch over swingarms, long enough to encourage the back wheel out a little easier but not so long that feel of the action on the rear is too far removed from the rider. To keep up in a horsepower-maddened world, the Triumphs are equipped with Garrett GT2052 turbochargers. Surprising enough, the Triumph Daytona 675s don’t have any engine mods besides the addition of the turbo. (Tip of the hat to Bike EXIF
and Chris Hunter for a bit of info gleaned from his wonderful site). The specialized Daytona 675s bare clip-ons and rearsets from Driven Racing and new seats by HTMoto. It doesn’t take Nick and Ernie long before they’re burning up plenty of Avon tires and abusing the hell out of their Galfer brakes. Graphics on the bike were created by the crew at Icon while the killer paint schemes were applied by Outlaws Customz.
Out of all the slick drift cars used in the video, our favorite is the 850 hp Baja-ready buggy driven by Officer Buck. The Buckshot Racing X2R gets all those horses courtesy of a supercharged LS V8 and suspension with “a million inches of travel.” The way this thing bombs off- or on-road, it needs every one of them, too.
‘Apex’ and ‘E-Dub,’ you guys are mad-men. The skills you demonstrate at the throttle are phenomenal. To ride the edge like you two do takes mad skills. Makes for great video, too. Thanks Monster Energy, Icon Motosports
, Triumph Motorcycles and Team Empire Freestyle for taking us along for the ride and for helping us spend 12 minutes of our day drifting mindlessly away in your Motorcycle vs Car Drift Battle 3 video.
