Last year the Progressive International Motorcycle Shows joined the festivities at Sturgis by hosting a special edition of the J&P Cycles
Ultimate Builder Competition Series. Thousands of dollars in prize money was dealt out and this year has great prizes from sponsors like Belt Drives Ltd., Fat Baggers Inc., Rinehart Racing, Arlen Ness, and Performance Machine totaling $6000.
The Sturgis edition of the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Competition will be held Wednesday, August 6th, 2014, on 4th St. near the community center. Sign up is open from 9 a.m. until noon. Judging will take place from 1 -3 p.m., and the Awards Ceremony will happen at 4 p.m.
Some of the hottest custom-built motorcycles will be competing for major prizes across five different classes.
The Freestyle class features a $2000 prize from Belt Drives Ltd. and is an open class for anything with a motorcycle-based drivetrain. If it runs and rides, you can enter it here. The Freestyle class features some of the most insane builds and best competition of all the classes.
The Bagger class is brand new for the Ultimate Builder Competition this year. Fat Baggers Inc. has stepped up to the plate with a $1000 cash value prize. If it has bags on it, you'll find it in this class.
Rinehart Racing is putting up a $1000 cash value prize in this special class just for any year original configuration Harley-Davidson frame and engine cases.
The Retro Mod class always features interesting bikes with history behind them. This class is open to bikes older than 25 years old. Arlen Ness has graciously provided a $1000 cash value prize for this class and we can't wait to see what rolls out in Sturgis!
This class is set up for custom sportbikes and cruisers that use factory spec engine cases and original configuration frames. Performance Machine Inc. is providing a $1000 cash value prize for the winner of this class.
