Look like Rossi with AGV Donkey Helmet
Wednesday, November 04, 2009

A replica of MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi's whimsical Donkey helmet will soon be on sale from AGV.
You may never be able to ride like seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, but you can at least look like him.
Motorcycle helmet maker AGV announced that it will be making a handful of the Donkey helmets the effervescent Rossi wore at
Misano. Rossi came up with the idea after his disappointing wash-out at the
Indianapolis MotoGP. Apparently he felt like an ass for making an uncharacteristic mistake at Indy while dueling with teammate Jorge Lorenzo for the lead. Though disappointed, Rossi made light of the situation by donning the AGV Donkey helmet at the next round in Misano, a race he won.
The lid features the big-toothed grin of the donkey from
Shrek fame with the words ‘The Donkey’ written on the back in ‘Doctor’ script. To drive the point home even more, ‘El Sumer’ is written above it. The phrase also means donkey in Tavullian dialect, the dialect of Rossi’s hometown. The Donkey helmet was designed by Rossi’s favorite helmet painter, Aldo Drudi.
