Bike Week 2010 - Wish You Were Here!
We made it! After 14 hours of shuffling in and out of airports, TSA pat-downs, take-offs, bumpy landings and jet lag from losing three hours because of east-west time differences, Motorcycle USA has landed in Daytona Beach. Time to get this party started. First plan of action – getting some wheels.
Headed over to Volusia Motorsports in New Smyrna to pick up the
2010 Victory Arlen Ness Victory. I feel a trip down Main St. tonight coming on. Today though, we plan on rolling over to the Speedway to catch some of the AHRMA Vintage Motorcycle Racing that’s going on. It’s great to watch those vintage racers of yore screaming around the track. And I mean screaming! It’s such a different sound coming from those old powerplants, a unique auditory treat in contrast to the wail of the normal inline-fours that will be ripping around Daytona come Saturday.
While we’re at the Speedway, we’ll make the rounds and visit our friends at the various manufacturers to see what’s new and to check out all the new 2010 motorcycles. I’m hoping to track down Triumph to see when we might be able to land a ride on the new
Triumph Rocket Roadster. That thing’s a beast – and we love it! Hopefully we can set up a little test in the near future.
Should be a great day. Thunderstorms in the forecast, but hell, we’re from Oregon, we ride come rain or shine. In the meantime, here’s a peek at what I got to wake up to. Borrowing a line from Pink Floyd,
Wish You Were Here.
