Robbie Knievel to Jump 16 Buses on XR-750

Robbie Knievel at Kings Island
Daredevil Robbie Knievel announced that he will attempt to jump 16 double decker buses in Wembley Stadium on May 22 aboard the motorcycle his father Evel helped immortalize, the Harley-Davidson XR-750.
Motorcycle daredevil Robbie Knievel will attempt to jump 16 double decker buses in London on a Harley-Davidson XR-750 on May 22 at Wembley Stadium. The son of the legendary Evel Knievel will attempt a jump similar to the one that almost ended his father’s career. Evel broke his pelvis during his attempt to jump over 13 buses at Wembley back in 1975 after his rear wheel clipped the last bus, sending Evel rolling down the ramp with his motorcycle crashing on top of him. After the wreck, the daredevil announced that he was retiring from the sport, but was jumping again five months later.

Robbie Knievel has made more than 350 jumps primarily using a modified motocross bike, the Honda CR500. In London, Robbie will use a Harley-Davidson XR-750, similar to the bike used by his father. The XR-750 presents new challenges because of its heavier weight and handling. With a successful jump, Robbie can silence the critics who dismiss his achievements because of using the Honda and he can set a new world record for bus jumping on an XR-750. The current record is 15 buses held by stuntman Bubba Blackwell.

This is not the first jump that Evel failed to complete that Robbie has tackled. In 1989, Robbie successfully jumped the fountains at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. According to his website, it also appears that Robbie is contemplating jumping the Snake River Canyon in 2010, another one of Evel’s stunts that went awry.

On Sept. 8, 1974, Evel hopped aboard a rocket-powered ‘X-2 Sky-Cycle’ in an attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon. The ride was doomed from the start. During test runs, the rocket never cleared the canyon. When Evel attempted the jump, the parachute on the ‘Sky-Cycle’ accidentally deployed, robbing him of thrust. Strong

Robbie Knievel is trading in his Honda CR500 for the London double decker bus jump and will use a motorcycle similar to the one his father jumped on, the H-D XR-750.
headwinds blew Evel back into the canyon where he barely missed crashing into the river.

Clicking on the Snake River Canyon 2010 button in the Robbie Knievel Photo Gallery takes you to a page that states “One Man… One Rocket… One Dream… Snake River Canyon Jump. Witness history as the world’s greatest daredevil Kaptain Robbie Knievel attempts to avenge his father Evel Knievel and jump the Snake River Canyon in a rocket powered cycle.”

But first there are 16 double decker buses and a new world record waiting in Wembley for the motorcycle daredevil.

Yes what happend to the jump? The date has long passed and no jump!Did Robbie back out?Would be a shame if he did,his father would never back out of a jump,he always did what he said he would do!

In a world of some of the hottest talent in history, we as the public need to watch and enjoy. Comparing Evel Knievel to Robbie Madsen is like comparing Yakima Canutt to Dar Robinson. Stop the comparisons, and enjoy the ride. A Stuntman Series is hard to insure, thats why we have not seen any Jump-offs between top riders. We can only hope that the shows get better and more insane. Color Me Lucky!

R.knievel's jump is a must see for anyone who jumped their dirtbike across their driveway, if its easy and lame try it once. Double deckers this time, evel had singles. Dont see too many jumpers today take a souped hog down a plywood ramp from the rafters wide open in cramped arena's where you need a parachute to help stop. Evel did. Huge dirt mound punk pillow landing, that dont count. Knievel #1

lets set everything and everyone straight - The Snake River jump will never happen - Robbie has talked for 28 yeas about this - and who cares about the Wembley jump - someone has already jumped 180 feet on a harley just recently - plus Bubba Blackwell jumped that many busses in Vegas 10 years ago - Now here is the real jump - I am within 20 k of my own rocket jump over the Colorado River A 1/2 MILE JUMP in my own rocket the X-2 Skylimo rocket - Robbie probably can't stay sober long enough to do a canyon jump !! www.madmikehughes.com - the worlds most famous limo driver - the most innovative person in NASCAR history and former national motorcycle racing champ

Evel was a drinker but not a druggie, he beat the crap out of a guy for saying he was a druggie.
He has been my hero all my life and allways will be.

He once said "there was no one before me nor will there be none after me."

In a way he was right, anyone in the world could jump a motorcycle from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean and they would be lucky if it even hit the news.

There will never be anyone ever that will be a famous on a motorcycle as Evil Knievel. He is an American Icon.

I don't know why Robbie dosen't just quit jumping, and spend the rest of his time with his kids, I think he and his father have put his mother Linda, his brother, sisters, and his kids through enough.

Quit while you are ahead Robbie, you are a better jumper than your dad, you have nothing left to prove, you will never have the fame your dad had no matter how many busses or canyons you jump, don't be the Knievel that gets killed jumping a motorcycle.
You know if you could ask your dad what he thought about you doing either jump he would tell you not to do either of them, for cripes sakes listen to him.

Madison's a pussy he would never try something like the Grand Canyon jump that took a real man, over 250 feet with certain death below you if you f@@k it up, and people think Madison's the man because he jumped 322 on a high tuned no weight dirt bike over a football field which is a soft landing if he f@@ked it up,Robbie Knievel has offered Madison a jump off but the Aussie wimp hasnt got the balls for it...meow
Dick Decent -nowadays  January 18, 2010 06:24 PM
Yes, Madison,Pastrana and many others have taken motorcycle jumping and stunts to another level. Evel started it all for sure but jumping a H-d over some buses old school style is ho-hum to say the least now-a-days.

One slight problem May 22nd Wembley hosts the biggest single prize sport can offer The Coca Cola Championship Football (soccer to the US) Final worth estimated £60m to the winner for promotion to the English Premier League, and Wembley hace already stated they do not know anythong about this perhaps he should try Battersea instead.
Tim B -Please Don't  December 18, 2009 11:14 AM
Please don't wreck another XR750, Robbie. Your father destroyed enough. These bikes are awesome looking and don't deserve the treatment. And you guys are comparing Evil (a crazy idiotic daredevil) to Robbie Maddison (a methodical stuntman) and there is no comparison. Evil was a drugged up, drunken "pin it and hope" kind of guy without much planning. Today's jumpers take months of planning to think thinks through and then they practice. Evil was my hero as a kid. Then I grew up and learned he was a druggie, a drunk, and an abuser and I lost all respect for him. I don't envy him anymore and in fact I can't stand him. To this day I don't know why people give him credit for being anything other than crazy. He was a horrible human being. And he didn't have talent. He was just crazy.
Casper -Interesting,,,  December 18, 2009 11:05 AM
I've said it too. "Yeah, Rob's cool - jumping a pogo stick with 13 inches of suspension. That thing's a supercross weapon and made to fly" "If you really want to impress me, let's see him do them jumps on an old XR750 racin' Hog with 4 inches of suspension and shocks by allis-chalmers, like the ol' man did. :-)"

I guess he was listening, let's see how he does. Godspeed Captain Robbie.
Mxster -arkie  December 18, 2009 08:23 AM
well that doesn't say much about Robbie Knievel cuz he's been jumpin a Honda CR500 for more than a decade. And A CR500 is no baby's bike it takes a real man just to kick that bitch over none the less pin the throttle on one. That Honda is alot faster on take off for sure lol. But I gotta say that HD XR750 is one sexy BAMF bike. Good luck to Ol' Robbie!
SAMXRL -Maddo VS Robbo  December 18, 2009 07:29 AM
I used to drive by Evel's landing ramp by the Snake River in Twin Falls Idaho. That jump is huge any way you slice it!! Even Maddo would sweat bricks before he'd try that jump. Furthermore, the daredevils ,that started jumping back in the day, would laugh at the idea of landing on a long and tall dirt ramp. The margin of error using roll- in ramps is way lower than using dirt ramps. Madison would agree because he missed the landing ramp just slightly on his Vegas jump and got injured quickly. Both Knievel and Madison have guts to even try what they try. That alone makes them daredevils in my book.
Arkie -Bozo  December 18, 2009 05:15 AM
Madison is a stuttering babboon who cant handle a mans bike that why he rides that honda junk
ROBRO -AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!  December 17, 2009 11:58 AM

he is old, man let him go back to the roots and give it a shot
Dudester -Robby  December 16, 2009 02:34 PM
I disagree...this guy puts on a great show. Anyone jumping anything in these distances is a no BS deal. Maddo is the man for sure and it woudl be cool to see Knievel do something that epic for sure - but in the end its all just some crazy bastards out there having fun. And us sickos are there watching - many hoping they dont make it...
Wackobasket -Irrelevant!  December 16, 2009 01:50 PM
Until he starts trying to beat Robbie Madison's 322 foot dirt Ramp jump he is nothing!
