Detroit Bros. Host Motor City Motors Show

Tuesday, December 22, 2009
Detroit Bros.
The Detroit Bros., Dave and James Kaye, will bring a little Motor City madness to the TV screen courtesy of their Discovery Channel show, Motor City Motors.
The Detroit Bros. are going prime time. Brothers Dave & James Kaye, along with the man who fostered their fabricating skills, their father John, are the hosts of a new Discovery Channel show called Motor City Motors. It will be produced by Thom Beers, who is the creator and executive producer of Discovery’s popular Deadliest Catch as well.

In each episode, the brothers have five days to assemble a team of builders and specialists to create hot rods and custom motorcycles. And anybody familiar with the Detroit Bros. knows we’re not talking glorified theme bikes here. Expect more of a Monster Garage-type theme from the Detroit crew who are known for producing more Mad Max-style, industrial-edged motorcycles.

In the first episode, the brothers make a drag racer out of a 1926 Model T Gasser. After chopping the roof and frame, a Ford 521 cubic-inch Holbrook motor with 1000 hp is mounted in the four-door sedan.

Detroit Bros.
The Detroit Bros. are all about building industrial-strength machines.

James Kaye has studied under metal master and famed custom bike builder, Ron Finch, and has been classically trained as a metal sculptor at the College for Creative Studies. His brother Danny brings a solid business sense courtesy of a Finance degree from the University of Michigan Business School. But don’t expect a bunch of OCC-type shenanigans from these guys. The brothers are what you’d expect from the Motor City, straight-talking and street tough.

Motor City Motors premieres on the Discovery Channel Monday, Dec. 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Draggintheline -Model T trashing  October 13, 2010 08:17 PM
So you molested an unmolested Model T on the show, that would have given more enjoyment to anyone seeing it in its original form. Can't say I'd be to proud of that. I hope all that were involved in that project die the slow death that Ford did. Stay away from my cars!!!
Mark Wilder -Has motor city motors been cancelled?  February 5, 2010 04:39 PM

It's great to see people thinking outside of the box for these shows. Just like Henry Ford was thought outside the box and everybody laughed. Great job! Are you taking applications for future episodes?

I was not impressed, it's the "Same old same old" type of reality show that is on every channel these days. There is always a drama between someone while they are pretending to act like there isn't a camera right there on them. There is nothing NEW about this show compared to any of the others that have come before it.

I see by other comments that there was supposed to be a live band performing during the show. This might have given the show the edge that it needed to be different and interesting to more than just motor-heads!
KB -The Walkin Talkin Toxins  January 7, 2010 09:57 AM
As a fan of the Walkin Talkin Toxins and a supporter of Detroit Local Musicians, I must say I was truly disappointed that the Toxins were cut from the epsiode with the Suburban Pot Hole Filler. The band created a song which the lyrics were perfect for that episode and was a true "Detroit-Motor City Song" with references to our city. The Toxins have stongly promoted your program at each show that have performed in as well as thru media such as MySpace. In any case Detroit Musicians, Fans and friends in the Detroit Tri-county area as well as across country have been expressing their extreme diappointment for this decision to cut the Walkin Talkin Toxins. The show needs more than what you are offering and Detroit local rock and roll would have been your answer!
What a shame!
Lisa -Toxins Jan 4  January 7, 2010 06:29 AM
I watched your Jan 4th episode hoping to see The Toxins, a local Detroit band. Unfortunately they were not on. I know that several other fans of their's were also very disappointed. The concept of your show, to bring a positive light to the City of Detroit is a good one and the idea to promote local bands is genious, but you didn't follow through with the band.

As one of the Toxin's loyal fans, I will say that their appearance would have been stellar. I think that an apology to the band and their fans that watched an hour of your show is in order!
american.made -Thesource  January 5, 2010 06:54 PM
This is the kind of trash that makes the american look like fools how is this show going to help. They doent even look like they are having fun . I think some guy from long beach did this .
Don Linde -Detroit Rocks?  January 5, 2010 04:26 PM
I have seen similar shows, and found nothing special about this build. The true representation of Detroit is the Rock & Roll - where were the Toxins???? Your producers dissed my friends. The guys didn't even finish the build. Detroit Rock & Roll always finishes the job!
Kate -Toxins  January 5, 2010 07:57 AM
Watched your show for the very first time & was looking forward to seeing one of my favorite local bands, The Toxins, play on it. I waited...and waited...and waited through the drama, and they were never on. Very disappointed. It's a good concept for the show & anything to show Detroit in a different light is always positive, but by dissing some hard-core Detroit rock & leaving them out, I won't be watching again.
A.Wagner, -Toxin's play on Jan 4th Ep  January 5, 2010 06:53 AM
Nice job getting 1/2 of southeastern Michigan excited about seeing the Walking Talking Toxins 10 seconds of fame for nothing....at least your ratings were up last night, right?

If your going to get hopes up (the band received an email 2 weeks ago verifying 50 seconds of airtime, which was forwarded to several fans) about something and then crush them the night of...maybe an email or a phone call with an explanation should be in order???? That band plugs the show at every gig since they filmed the episode. What a slap in the face. Karma's a bitch is all I have to say.
Richard "Lil Dickie" -Genuine Motor City Survivors  January 4, 2010 08:49 AM
Nice job guys. Good for local business, good for local morale, good for national perception of Detroit. It ain't all bad here..."Good things still happen in Detroit".
Mefers.. -junk  December 29, 2009 02:38 PM
same as the other crap... these guys think the det sistas are the only ones that can build bikes then they do the Jesse James car crap too ... Ha ha .. get a life...
Steve McNeley -Choice of vehicles  December 29, 2009 12:12 AM
Tonight i watched you'r first show , you trashed a beautiful model T , why???? all you needed was a square box . You could of made the shell out of aluminum or card board.why do you have to trash things that are a work of art to creat you'r own I want your show to do very well but have you ever been sickend by the sight of a car you will never be able to own being blown up in a movie,or crashed for effect,
You want a hit show find great old classics and give them to old men who could never afford them when they where young.
I looked forward to you show all day ,,,,,now iam pissed OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FU!!!
Michigan Citizens -Detroit Bros, Motor City Show  December 28, 2009 02:02 PM
God Bless you guys. Thank you for doing the show building things locally in our State not outsourcing to tacky China or somewhere else. The Legal Citizens of the United States will always make the best and its nice to have a show that showcases that you can't keep US workers down. Again Thank you and God Bless your show and you guys!!!
