Smackdown Time in MotoUSA Fantasy Racing
Wednesday, March 24, 2010

OK, I can't wheelie like Heedie, but I'm going to kick his butt in Fantasy Superbike Racing this weekend!
You don’t survive in this industry without being competitive. And around this office, we all have a competitive streak. Sure, I may not be able to flog a
Gixxer Thou around a racetrack like Steve Atlas, and I can’t pull a third gear wheelie on the
Ducati Streetfighter like Adam Waheed, but I might just be able to beat them in our friendly Motorcycle USA bench racing league. How sweet it’d be to have bragging rights over our go-fast guys by beating them in our
Fantasy Racing League. I couldn’t wait for the next round of
World Superbike racing ever since the first round at Phillip Island. I did fairly good in the first race, picking Fabrizio to win (he lost in a photo finish in the closest World Superbike race on record) and I chose the Xerox Ducati team, which earned me a healthy 36 points after Fabrizio and Haga finished two and three.
But I took it hard in the second race. I picked Haga to win and he finished fifth, so it only earned me 11 points. My B rider picks are what killed me. Where were you 'Shakey' Shane Byrnes? 12th place? And who would have thought Haslam was going to kill Phillip Island like he did? Fortunately, I saved a face a little on my teams pick, going with Althea Ducati. Carlos Checa came through with the win, which earned me 25 points, or else I really would have been hurting.
Keeping my picks for this weekend’s race a secret. Prying eyes might be watching. Luckily, writing the
World Superbike Portimao Preview has given me some inside information. I’m coming after you, Atlas. You, too, Heedie. It might be the only way I can beat you two in a race, but I’ll take it.
It’s fun stuff. TEAM ZUKE is out to an early lead with 190 points. I won’t mention my overall ranking. Motorcycle USA’s
MotoGP Fantasy Racing League will be kicking off soon, so hurry up and join or be left in my dust. All you have to do to play is join
My MotoUSA and you’re in like Flynn. As Mikey used to say, “Try it, you’ll like it.”
