Beam Me Up: Shatner Auctioning Motorcycle
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
William Shatner, who will forever be immortalized by Star Trek fans for his role as the original Capt. James T. Kirk, is putting up his custom
Harley-Davidson motorcycle for auction to benefit the Hollywood Charity Horse Show, which works to aid handicapped children. Shatner is offering his
2005 FXDC Dyna Super Glide up to support the cause. The auction will be held on June 27th at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
The auction also features other Trekkie memorabilia from the private collection of the show’s creator, Gene Roddenberry. The long-running sci-fi show has reached cult status and is sure to raise big bucks from its ardent fans in support of the Gene Roddenberry Foundation.
Capt. Kirk has been riding bikes since he kiped his neighbor's motorcycle back in high school. Check out this short YouTube clip as Shatner offers this humorous recollection of how he taught himself to ride.
