2nd Annual Big Mountain Run Starts Today

So I wonder how the crew from the
Limpnickie Lot is doing about now. Hopefully they’re having a blast at the 2nd Annual Big Mountain Run, which started today. It kicks off with a two-day Gypsy Run through the Smoky Mountains. I hear famed industry photographer Michael Lichter will be joining them at Tilley Harley-Davidson, the starting point of the run, and will be capturing the adventure the way that only Lichter can. Next is a stopover at the
Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. There the crew will get a private tour by owner Dale Walksler of a museum that houses one of the best collections around of rare American Vintage Motorcycles. You’ll see it all at the Wheels Through Time, from board trackers, hillclimbers, dirt trackers to custom bobbers and choppers.
Then it’s off for some fun on the revered stretch of road called the Tail of the Dragon. Hopefully they’ve got most of the road open because last I heard it had been shut down due to rockslides. Knowing the Limpnickie crew, they won’t let no stinkin’ rockslides slow them down. From there it’s back down the Cherahola Skyway to the Hiwassee Outfitters Campground where the gang will set camp for a few days. They’ve got fun stuff in store like mini-bike races, live music, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some paint ball wars going on and maybe an impromptu burn-out contest or two.
When I saw Cycle Source’s Chris Callen at
Bike Week New Orleans, he extended an invitation to me, but unfortunately I’ve got deadlines to meet and articles to write. Maybe next year, Chris. In the meantime, hope the crew has tons of fun, rides safe, and stays out of jail.
