Bret Michaels loves to ride custom Harleys and dirt bikes. He loves to hit up the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and headlined with his old band Poison at the Buffalo Chip a few years back. He even claims the loss of his virginity involved a motorcycle, a blanket, and an 8-track player. Being a biker and a rock star, he's also pegged with the bad-boy image that comes with the territory. 

So it was cool to see Donald Trump award the motorcycle-loving front man the title of Celebrity Apprentice last night. The guy has been through hell lately – brain hemorrhages, emergency appendectomy, a stroke caused by a hole in his heart, and he’s diabetic. And even though I dissed on him back in the day when he was the guy-liner wearing lead singer of what I thought was a poser-band at the time, I’ve got to give the dude props. He’s fought off death and last night won a bunch of money for the American Diabetes Foundation.
 
It’s cool that the Trumpster selected Michaels to win in a competition usually tailored more to stuffy, Wall Street-executive types. He recognized that Michaels is a fighter who shed some of the negative rocker/biker stereotypes with his intelligence and creativity. Hopefully in the near future he can once again get back on a motorcycle and enjoy the freedom that riding a bike brings. Motorcycling is therapeutic, good for both the mind and soul. Just don't tell his doctors if you see him out riding.
