MCN Reports Rossi Has Signed with Ducati

Wednesday, June 30, 2010
MCN’s latest cover story states that Valentino Rossi has signed on with Ducati to race next year. The cover of Britain’s leading motorcycle magazine claims that an unnamed insider confirms it’s a done deal. Speculation is that full disclosure of the agreement will be revealed as early as the Catalunya MotoGP round this weekend.

Enquiring minds want to know - has Valentino Rossi signed on with Ducati in 2011? MCN says it's so.
Having the Italian rider competing on Italian machinery would be a dream match-up for the Ducatisti. Marlboro Ducati has supposedly offered a sweet deal, dangling both big money and future F1 and rally car options. One piece of the puzzle that doesn’t seem to be in place yet is whether Rossi’s trusted crew chief, Jeremy Burgess, would be moving over to Ducati as well to help in developing the 1000cc Ducati when GP makes the switch in 2012.

There’s plenty of impetus for Rossi to make the move. It has been reported that Yamaha wants Rossi to accept a pay cut while his teammate Jorge Lorenzo stands to get a big pay raise if he holds on to win the 2010 World Championship. It’s no big secret that Fiat Yamaha team is touting the 23-year-old Lorenzo as its future over the 31-year-old Rossi, who suffered the worst injury of his career recently and is out of commission until his broken leg heals. Rossi hasn’t hidden his disdain in the past about sharing the Fiat Yamaha garage with the young Mallorcan. Remember the sheet between the two in the garage during Lorenzo’s rookie year?

Rossi on a Ducati. It’s a match made in Italian racing heaven. I’d love to see it. Think about how determined Rossi will be to get his title back if Lorenzo can stay healthy and win the MotoGP title this year. Hopefully we’ll find out if MCN’s insider info is true this weekend.

@str8up - you seem to forget that rossi went to yamaha when they were the kawasaki of gp. seems to me he did fine then and would do fine anywhere he goes, just like in rally and f1...imo. winners find out how to win, period. look at spies and how he is fairing with a sattelite team and fairly new track with the best in the world.

seems that Rossi has had a yearning to ride for the Italian marquee as he had hinted in the past..

The performance clauses in the contracts of Dovisioso and Pedrosa might be a problem in signing Stoner with Honda. If they place high enough by midpoint of the season, their contracts are extended. Unless Honda can find a way to field 3 riders, Stoner may stay at Ducati, if they want him. The way his mouth has been running lately, he may have pissed all over everything at Ducati. If Ducati keeps him, there might not be a place for Rossi. Eager to hear the announcement so we can all stop speculating. Moreso to find out if Burgess will go with him. Always thought the 2 were inseparable and for good reason but maybe Spies and JB will team up next season.

The separated garage in 2008 was because Rossi was using the Bridgestone tires and Jorge was on the Michelin. Rossi has no problem sharing the garage with Jorge, until Lorenzo start to challenge him for the podium. The bottom line is Rossi wants to be the #1 always, and he has disdain to anyone who try to take that away (It could be Max, Sete, Casey, Jorge etc....). That's why he is a winner.

This would be amazing. It would be nice to see Rossi ride red again, this time for Ducati.
