Bikes of all kinds made it out for the Lichter ride.
We couldn’t think of a better way to start our first day at the
2010 Sturgis Rally than to take a ride with a hundred friends or so on the Sugar Bear/ Michael Lichter ride. It was an honor to get to talk to Sugar Bear and to have some riding shots of me taken by Lichter himself, who chronicled the event with his camera of our motley crew of riders.
The ride culminated in hanging out at the Sturgis Dragway grubbing on BBQ and watching the run-what-u-brung contest. The Broken Spoke’s Jay Allen had a duel with a guy from Vegas while Cycle Source’s Chris Callen and Beaner had a spirited competition for much of the afternoon.

We got a sneak peek at the 71
motorcycles from 17 countries that
are competing in the 2010 AMD
World Championship of Custom
Bike Building Sunday night.
We ended the day at the preview party for the 2010 of the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. The first person we ran into was our friend from Medford, Oregon, Mark Daley of
Thunderstruck Customs who is entering a bike in the show. It was good to see our buddy Jim Guiffra of AFT Customs, too, who of course had the AFT girls there getting their feet wet in the broadcast journalism field by interviewing custom builders for a TV project they’re working on.
We’re headed to Deadwood now for the Legends Ride and our first opportunity to visit our favorite Sturgis stomping grounds, the Legendary Buffalo Chip. The ride ends up there, and after a catered dinner we get to hang around and catch the ZZ Top show. I know I suck, but it’s gonna be a good damn day.
