It's Indian Motorcycle Weekend at The Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee.
Milwaukee’s The Iron Horse Hotel
is hosting an Indian Motorcycle
Weekend starting tonight and running all weekend. Indian Motorcycle owners are encouraged to show up in droves as the company celebrates its 110th year. The party kicks of this evening in the Yard at The Iron Horse Hotel, which holds a weekly summertime bike night. Indian Motorcycles of Chicago will have its rig there displaying the manufacturer’s latest bikes, including the 2011 Chief Blackhawk. I just saw this bike up-close-and-personal in Sturgis and it’s a sharp-looking motorcycle. It’s not easy to blend traditional styling cues with more sporting features, but I think Indian engineers hit the nail on the head with the Blackhawk. The dark version of the 2011 Blackhawk looks even more striking.
The Iron Horse Hotel’s Indian Motorcycle Weekend includes a chance to test ride the 2010-11 Indians. Demos run from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. on Sunday. Riders are offered a free pint of Milwaukee's Lakefront beer after the ride. I anticipate they’ll have more biker standards going on like vendors, food and music.
Located a stone’s throw from the Harley-Davidson Museum, The Iron Horse Hotel is touted as the country's only boutique hotel geared toward
Hmmm, I think I could be comfortable here. The Iron Horse Hotel is billed as the only boutique hotel that caters to bikers.
motorcycle enthusiasts. It features covered motorcycle parking with rag bins and check-in carts so riders can empty their saddlebags. They’ve got a guest package that includes rider amenities like The Iron Horse Hotel skull cap, sunscreen, lip balm, packed lunches for your saddlebag, ride routes and suggestions for bike-friendly spots throughout the area. They’ve designed rooms to be rider-friendly with features like tile entrances with custom hooks for hanging heavy leathers, a bench for removing and storing boots and helmets while the lobby is set up for guests arriving in high heels or riding boots. They also offer massages for that “Post-Ride Rejuvenation.”
So if you’re in the Milwaukee area this weekend, are a fan of Indian Motorcycles or own a vintage Indian, head on over to The Iron Horse Hotel. Show off your ride, have a little fun and be sure to check out the hotel. I hear the rejuvenated 100-year-old building is a sight to see.
