Strokers Dallas New TV Show - Ma's Roadhouse
Thursday, September 09, 2010
Ma's Roadhouse, shot on-scene at custom bike builder Rick Fairless' Strokers Dallas and featuring his fiesty 71-year-old mother, debuts Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 9 p.m. on truTV.
Rick Fairless is a colorful character. Anybody who has seen his psychedelic custom motorcycle called Pam
knows that. Seems like he’s got a mom whose personality is just as colorful. If not, why else would truTV give her a TV program?
debuts Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 9 p.m. The setting is Strokers Dallas
, Fairless’ combination biker bar, tattoo parlor and motorcycle shop. Ma, aka Rick’s feisty 71-year-old mother who talks like a sailor, is the main character. The shenanigans of running “the baddest biker bar in Texas” will provide the drama. Sure, a similar formula has already been used filming at Michael Ballard’s Full Throttle Saloon. But Ballard didn’t have Ma. (But he does have Angie!)
Rick is talented builder and an overall good guy. Show him some love next week and tune in to truTV Wednesday night. The show should be good for a laugh or two and if you’ve never been to Rick’s Stroker’s empire in Dallas, maybe watching the action there will give you incentive enough to get your a*s on over there. Below is the press release with more details about the new motorcycle-related TV show.
Folks in Dallas looking for some Texas-sized fun head over to the world-famous Strokers empire, a combination bar, motorcycle shop and tattoo parlor, owned and operated by Rick Fairless, with his 71-year-old mother, affectionately known as Ma, serving as the bar manager. truTV is about to
Rick Fairless built Pam
for S&S Cycle's 50th anniversary celebration. The bike's oil and gas tanks are both built into the frame and substitutes screen in place of sheet metal in much of its design.
take viewers behind the scenes at Strokers in the all-new series Ma’s Roadhouse
, set to premiere with back-to-back episodes Wednesday, Sept.15, at 9 and 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
Rick is a long-haired, tie-dye-wearing former paint salesman who quit his job of 20 years to open a motorcycle shop. Next door, he later opened the Strokers Ice House, a bar and grill that has since become one of the South’s premier biker hangouts. Today, people come from miles around to enjoy a burger and a cold beer while they check out the curves on the bikes in Rick’s showroom as well as on Strokers’ bikini girls.
Rick owns Strokers, while Ma, a chain-smoking, hard-drinking woman who never hesitates to speak her mind in her distinct gravelly voice, serves as the bar manager. They are joined by Susan, Rick’s wife and Strokers’ office manager; Lena, Rick’ daughter, who recently joined the staff at Strokers; Meghan, the hard-working marketing and events coordinator; and Debbie, who handles Strokers’ “bikini babes.”
Each episode of Ma’s Roadhouse
focuses on the often-wild dynamic as Rick tries to keep business booming and his difficult-to-please mother happy. The result is a Texas-sized show packed with more spice than a pot of chili.
follows on the heels of truTV’s tremendous success with the South Dakota-set biker bar series Full Throttle Saloon. Ma’s Roadhouse
comes to truTV from AMS Pictures, with Andy Streitfeld (Race Car Driver) and Strokers owner Rick Fairless serving as executive producers. Brad Osborne serves as senior producer, while Jessica Schoenbaechler and Kim Clemons serve as producers.
