Turn Your Harley Tourer into a Phatillac
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Looking for a way to trick-out your ride with a pimpin’ new look? Our friends at
Old Skool Cycle Werks recently shared pictures with us of its latest bolt-on bagger kit, the Phatillac. Henry Chriss makes some cool rear-end conversion kits that turn standard Harleys into customized cruisers with classic car lines. His latest creation, the Phatillac, fits Harley-Davidson Touring bikes from 1995-2007. It’s a three-piece kit consisting of one hand-laid fiberglass fender with integrated bags and two side panels. The bags each have a claimed 2 cubic-feet of storage space.
It’s easy enough to guess what classic American car Henry was thinking about when he created his latest design. The Phatillac features a wide, stretched fender sandwiched in between two tall, thin “fenders” with distinct Cadi-like lines. The unit has cut-outs for the exhaust and a recess for a license plate but otherwise tidily conceals everything from the seat-back. Two thin vertical taillight strips complement the classic car look.
If the Phatillac is like all of Old Skool Cycle Werks other kits, it’s a do-it-yourself operation. No frame modifications are required. You can also use your stock seat.
According to Michelle Yalkin, Old Skool’s VP of Sales and Marketing, they’ve entered five local shows recently and won “Best of Show” in all.
“Tampa Harley-Davidson is putting the Phatillac on a bike in their showroom. Radical Randy (popular motorcycle event emcee and voice of the Rat’s Hole) will have the first production piece for Biketoberfest this year,” Yalkin continued.
