Product Review Affliction Shredded Jacket

Friday, November 9, 2007
The Affliction Shredded jacket delivers a comfort and style whether on a motorcycle or off.
The Affliction Shredded jacket has the signature sporty style and comfortable fit that defines Affliction gear.
Motorcycle leather jackets seem to be a dime a dozen these days. With the recent commercial textile explosion coming out of Asia, it can be hard to sort through hip innovative pieces and generic fluff.

But worry not motorbike friends. That's where Affliction's new Shredded jacket comes in. This limited-edition, hand-numbered, 100-percent leather jacket is American designed and it simply radiates style.

If you aren't in the know, Affliction Clothing is a Southern California-based clothing company that is rapidly becoming one of the fashion industries heavy hitters since bursting on the scene in 2005. Everyone from rockstars like Ozzy Osbourne and Korn, to movie stars such as Jamie Foxx and Vin Diesel can be caught rocking Affliction gear. Even UFC prize fighters "Iceman" Chuck Liddell and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson wouldn't be caught without their signature line of Affliction clothing.

When you put on the Shredded jacket, you immediately notice its snug, comfortable fit. Similar to the rest of Affliction's clothing line, the jacket has a relaxed yet slim, modern cut. It fits your body like a well-tailored jacket should. Jacket length is pretty much spot on with the bottom resting around belt level.

The Shredder jacket itself is constructed of thick yet supple, slightly destroyed-style leather, which requires minimal break-in. It features ultra-hip design cues like front skull embroidery and metal skulls linked to the leather zipper pulls. Reinforced custom elbow patches feature a unique, detailed web design that is very eye catching. Across the back the company's name is stylishly embroidered and lets all know that you are part of the Affliction brigade. Overall construction is first-class and definitely doesn't look like something you'd see in your local Target store.

Inside, the polyester-lined jacket hosts a number of various size pockets and compartments that were engineered to accommodate all of the things a 21st century man needs; i.e. phone, wallet, pen, paper - and you're going to need all the room you can get with the sheer amount of phone numbers scribbled on bits of paper from ladies who enjoy your Affliction threads.

When out riding, the Shredded jacket is extremely comfortable. There's no annoying bunching or binding and, unlike other designs, this jacket is cropped appropriately at your natural waist-line. It's a relatively lightweight coat, which makes it perfect for three out of four seasons. And best yet, it's actually looks the part no matter what style motorbike you roll. There is no fixed body armor or unsightly ventilation zippers, which make this jacket well-suited to someone looking for something versatile that can be worn in any situation both on or off the bike.
With its versatile styling Adam proves the Affliction Shredded jacket looks good aboard the latest superbike or gnarliest chopper like this OCC production bike.

Affliction's Shredded jacket is both an instant eye-catcher and conversation starter. Everywhere we went, we were constantly barraged with compliments from the opposite sex; so much in fact that we had to buy a phone with a bigger SIM card to accommodate all of those cute new faces. Not all of us can be rock stars, but at least we can look the part. Want a cool, comfortable jacket that you can wear anywhere, on any bike? Affliction has you covered.
