CPSC Youth OHV Lead Ban
On February 10, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Commission banned the sales of ATV and Motorcycles marketed to children under the age of 12. Enforcing the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008, the CPSC's narrow reading of the legislation decimated the OHV sales, which declined sharply in the first quarter of 2009. The CPSC has announced a 1-year stay of enforcement, but the OHV industry is still lobbying for legislation to enact a permanent excemption.
