HJC has gained its share of the market by producing quality motorcycle helmets at an affordable cost compared to its top competitors. Now the company claims to have taken a step forward with its new RHPA series of on and off-road helmets. MotoUSA was invited out to the elegant grounds of North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, California for a chance to get acquainted with a new helmet line and find out what is in store for the upcoming new-year.
For 2013 HJC introduces its RPHA line of helmets. HJC’s reasoning for the new product line is to bridge the gap between its current products and premium helmets currently on the market. Included in the collection is the formerly known RPS-10 now recognized as the RPHA 10, the RPHA Max, and RPHA X. All helmets in the RPHA collection feature HJC’s Premium Integrated Matrix construction containing materials that include carbon fiber, aramid fiber, fiberglass, and organic non-woven fabric. The mixture creates a remarkably strong yet lightweight result compared to standard helmet materials.

Spies. Unlike its closest competitors who only provide two shell sizes, the helmet is available in three different shell sizes (XS-S, M-L, XL-XXL) for an optimum fit. Countless hours of development and testing inside HJC’s own high speed wind tunnel resulted in claims of maximum ventilation, reduced wind noise levels, and low wind resistance. Glove friendly dials on each intake vent optimize easy opening / closing when riding while a 3D Anti-Scratch shield and pinlock provide 100% max vision. The shield also includes a center one-touch locking system for easy open/close action with a secure seal. A SilverCool Plus interior aims to deliver a soft feel for comfort and includes treatment to remain odor free and anti-bacterial. Included with the helmet is a breath guard and chin curtain. The HJC RPHA 10 is Snell 2010 and DOT approved and comes with a 5-year limited warranty. Retail is $399.99-$554.99 depending on size and color.
The HJC RPHA MAX modular helmet features an aerodynamic design, giving it the looks of a full-face sportbike lid.
The HJC RPHA MAX
is a modular helmet featuring just about all the same qualities as the RPHA 10. A compact and aerodynamic design gives the look of a full-face sportbike helmet. The flip-up chin bar and face shield is designed with an innovative one-touch open/close locking system allowing it to be opened with either hand. It also makes for ease of communication with your helmet on as well as wearing glasses more comfortable. A one-touch integrated smoke-tinted sun shield can be deployed easily and quickly and adjusts to any to any of three positions with a sliding lever on top of the helmet. Noise levels in the wind tunnel do not exceed 84dB at 100kph/62.5mph, which makes the helmet rather quiet. The RPHA Max is DOT approved and retails for $469.99.
