Icon Variant Etched Helmet. Its dual purpose design features a host of new ideas all wrapped up in a futuristic looking package.
The Variant Etched is constructed of three different composites: Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass and Dyneema. According to Icon, Dyneema is an ultra-high molecular weight fabric with one of the highest impact strengths of any thermoplastic presently made. Meaning the Variant meets or exceeds all World Standards: DOT (USA), ECE (EUR), SAI (AUS), and SG (JPN).
Ventilation is one of the concerns Icon addressed with the Variant. The shell offers nine adjustable oversized intake ports and six exhaust ports to keep the maximum amount of air moving while at street speeds. Icon added protruding vent controls for adjustments on the fly without removing the gloves. Since vision on the streets is critical, the Variant sports a large eye opening paired with a distortion free and fog-free face shield.

The aerodynamically designed visor has been engineered to block sunlight as well as cut down on lift and buffeting when riding at high speeds. The Icon video below shows a professional rider taking the Variant up in excess of 90 mph with little drag or uplift.
Inside the Variant, is Icon’s HydraDry. The fully removable liners are constructed of a textile material that wicks away moisture from the skin but remains soft and plush. Add the cool wraith graphics, as shown on the Etched version, and the optional mirrored shield and the Variant looks downright bad ass!
