Harley-Davidson Dyna

 The Harley-Davidson Dyna motorcycles feature styling inspired by the ‘70s spirit of self-expression teamed with modern performance. The H-D Dyna family was introduced in 1991 with the release of a limited-production FXDB Sturgis model. The Motor Company built the Dyna as a replacement for the FXR. The classic cruiser motorcycle features a more vibration-resistant engine mounting system than the FXR. The Harley-Davidson Dyna’s have extra custom styling and are more performance-based than other Harley cruisers or touring motorcycles. The limited-edition FXDB Daytona, with its Bobtail fender, and the production model FXDC Dyna Glide Custom succeeded the FXDB Sturgis motorcycle in 1992. Lightweight with sharp handling, the popular Dyna line has played an integral part in the success of Harley-Davidson.

The Harley-Davidson Dynas can be distinguished from Harley Softails by traditional coil-over suspension that connects the swingarm to the frame. Dyna models utilize the Big Twin engine (F), small-diameter telescopic forks similar to those used on the Sportster (X), and the Dyna chassis (D). As a result, all Dyna models are designated by the letters FXD i.e. FXDSG (Super Glide).

In 2006, H-D’s Dyna motorcycles were outfitted with a redesigned frame and received a new six-speed cruise drive transmission. Current members of the Harley-Davidson Dyna family feature a rubber-mounted, air-cooled 1584cc Twin Cam 96 engine, the six-speed Cruise Drive transmission mentioned above, an exposed battery box, exposed rear suspension, hollow axles and a five-gallon fuel tank.

The 2009 lineup includes five motorcycles, the Super Glide, Super Glide Custom, Street Bob, Low Rider and the Fat Bob.
