Nitro Nori put down a valiant effort at Lausitz with a 1-2 finish. - Lausitz
Yamaha Italia's Noriyuki Haga cut his championship rival's lead down to 41 points after winning Race 1 and finishing second in Race 2.
After a wet and rainy Saturday qualifying session the skies cleared up and provided near perfect conditions for two exciting races in Round 11 of the Superbike World Championship.

Race one was the Haga show as the Yamaha Italia rider took over the top spot from early leader Troy Bayliss and checked out.

"I feel happy with my result in both races today. The first race was the perfect result; even though my tire started to wear off I was able to take the win. I made a minor suspension change for race two but then didn't get as good a start as I wanted because of a small mistake," Haga said.

While Nitro Nori notched the easy win there was plenty of action behind him to keep the Eurospeedway fans excited, particularly the battle between Biaggi and Corser for second and third place. The two racing veterans put on a show as they reeled in and passed Bayliss and Toseland on their way to the podium.

The second race was even more exciting as defending champ Bayliss and Noriyuki Haga once again took off with the lead early on - battling for the top spot most of the afternoon. The two diced back and forth but this time around the Australian had an answer. Bayliss re-passed Haga one final time in the closing stages and went on to win with over a second to spare.

Once again Biaggi was in position to earn a podium spot. The Alstare Suzuki rider enjoyed an uncontested ride to third place after breaking free from the rest of the pack.

Corser and James Toseland went wire-to-wire in their scrap for fourth place with Toseland coming out on top. The Hannspree Honda rider has seen his championship lead cut to 41 points with four races remaining.

Toseland is at 375 with Haga at 334 and Biaggi third with 322.
