The flying brick yard. Sounds too slow.
How about the flying lintel?

I love it. They have managed to fairly consistantly avoid the sameness of the typical inline four. Heat management is a carbon fiber panel/vent away.
Wheelbase is indicative of shaft drive and a common beemer trait anyway.
Who developed ABS,single sided swingarms, traction control? I like the trans placement and the engine lay-down. Yah baby yah!
Non starter....nicht!

David - Non starter, sort of  November 17, 2009 11:55 AM
As far as motorcycles go, this will be one very LONG wheelbase tourer, and I can also see issues with engine heat, fuel tank packaging, higher CG, that the Gold Wing flat six does not have. HOWEVER; let us not forget that BMW is always interested in preserving its "legacy" as well as pushing the envelope, and this motor configuration is certainly one they are very familiar with in the automotive division, having built them for forty years!

I wouldn't say the inlines of the past have failed. I only heard a CBX once, but I'll never forget that sound. If this beemer can make music like that, I might have to beg for more credit!

Interesting BMW would come up with this non-starter in the middle of a recession. Styling is pretty cool. Muscular etc. How about a V-6?
The inlines of the past have all failed.
