Jake Zemke returns in 2009 sporting his hard earned number one.
At 21-year-old in 1997, Zemke made his debut as a full-time professional road racer. He finished his first season taking third place in AMA Harley-Davidson SuperTwins and spent the following years competing in multiple classes to learn the ins and outs of the sport.

Zemke took second overall in 750 Superstock in 1999 and in Formula Xtreme in 2000, including a win at Laguna Seca. In 2002 he tied for first in Formula Xtreme points, although he was awarded runner-up status based on the tie-breaker. Zemke's first Superbike victory was at Brainerd International Raceway in 2004 and his first Daytona 200 win was in 2006. Zemke's claim to fame in '06 was the fact that he was the lone '06 race winner not to sport the last name of Spies or Mladin. Jake the Snake snagged a win at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. The high point of 2006 for Zemke may have been his victory in the Daytona 200.

If Zemke can pull off consecutive Daytona 200 wins, it might just be the momentum he needs to get his Superbike season off on a positive track.

All the hard work paid off in 2008 when Jake won his first AMA Superbike series championship by claiming the Formula Xtreme title that has eluded him for all these years.
