look like it says FT400 in the bigger image. I have to give credit to a yahoo ascot group for pointing that out.

The red FT500. Glad it's in Honda's collection. I still ride mine. Very sophisticated thumper. The starter mechanisms were not the greatest engineering design effort at Honda-- it even looks like a bolt-on after-thought. Top end gaskets and oil weeping from them were also a design flaw. But as long as your battery is at full charge, the Ascot starts right up every time I'm ready to go for a spin. Gets lots of looks as well. Wish more companies would offer up a large thumper street bike again. The Suzuki Savage isn't anywhere near as nimble or fun as the FT500. They are also great on gas mileage.

I have to echo the comment..... the FT500 Ascot single was a fun bike. My first new bike (after an old HD SS175 and a Suzuki GS250T, which I also enjoyed immensely), the Ascot was reliable, handled great, and was basically everything the Buell Blast never was. On paper, the two look like twins, but in real life, Buell's attempt 18 years after the Ascot came up about 18 years SHORT of the Ascot's abilities. I still check Ebay now and then, just to see....

That makes me happy to see an FT500 Ascot dead center. One of my first and favorite bikes.
