We interview AMA Motocross 250 Champ Trey Canard at Perris Raceway. See and hear what he has to say in the Trey Canard AMA Motocross Interview.
This year will go down as one to remember for dirt bike motorcycle racer Trey Canard. It started off well when Canard recorded a third place finish in the AMA West Coast Supercross Lites Championship aboard the all-new 2010 Honda CRF250R.

During the season break he made his premier-class debut in Supercross with the Honda Red Bull team filling for an injured Andrew Short. Despite not having a whole lot of big bike racing experience, the 20-year-old from Oklahoma showed impressive speed right from the get-go aboard Short’s Honda CRF450R. Over the course of the next five races, he collected a second-place finish in Atlanta and four third places at Daytona, Toronto, Dallas, and Jacksonville before resuming the West Coast Lites series.

After the Supercross season was over, he was back on the bike racing in the Lucas Oils AMA Motocross 250 series. His campaign didn’t start off as planned with him fighting for top-10 finishes at the first few rounds. But by mid-season the GEICO Powersports Honda rider had found his mojo and started running at the front in every moto.

We caught up with Trey during our First Ride test of the 2011 Honda CRF250R. You’d be hard pressed to find a rider with better body form than the 2010 250 MX champ.
He would go into the season finale at Pala neck and neck with reigning champ, Christophe Pourcel and would eventually beat out the Frenchmen and bring home his first-ever AMA Motocross Championship. However, Canard wasn’t done yet.

Considering his impressive season he was selected to compete in the Motocross des Nations for Team USA. Canard joined fellow American competitors Ryan Dungey and Andrew Short at Thunder Valley MX in Colorado where the trio went to work and brought home America’s sixth consecutive title, putting the wraps on a storybook year.

Last week we caught up with Trey during the introduction for the 2011 Honda CRF250R. Make sure to read our assessment of the bike in our 2011 Honda CRF250R First Ride. In between motos on our No. 38 test bike and hanging out we sat down and chatted about the year. He spoke about a number of different topics including his full-time switch to the premier class for 2011. Make sure to watch the video for the full interview.
