The 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship made its way to Motor City for Round 14 of what has become anything but a typical Supercross racing season filled with unpredictable track conditions, crashes, injuries, and mechanical meltdowns.

Honda Red Bull's Davi Millsaps scored his second career Supercross victory in Detroit Saturday night.
Before even turning a wheel in Saturday's main event, San Manuel Yamaha's Chad Reed title defense suffered a tremendous blow when the factory Yamaha pilot crashed big enough to send him to the hospital during the first practice session.
Although Reed eventually lined up in the evenings 20-lap Supercross final, he would be in no position to stop Honda Red Bull's Davi Millsaps. Millsaps moved into first position after passing the Hooters supported Honda of Eric Sorby on Lap 2. Millsaps brought along his teammate Andrew Short and Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Tim Ferry. Torco Racing Fuels Honda rider Kevin Windham lurked behind the four riders and eventually made his way past Sorby. Meanwhile series point's leader Reed circulated the track towards the back of the field.
Up front, Ferry dispatched Short on Lap 3 forcing Windham to set his target on Short. Millsaps, however, would be untouched and rode a consistent race taking the win over Ferry by a margin of just over 2-seconds.
"I found some really good lines in practice and got a good start in the main and took care of the rest," said Millsaps. "I got caught up in lappers but ended up fighting through. It was unfortunate what happened to Chad today but I felt like I rode a good race and really earned it tonight."
Windham secured the final podium position while Yamaha's Josh Hill finished fourth after suffering a poor start. Reed would suffer through the race and was eventually credited with a 12th place finish.
"It will be interesting to see how Chad bounces back from his injury," said Windham. "It should be an interesting finish in the series. Today was really an emotional roller coaster for me. I came in here 27 points back and after his crash in the first practice it really pulled a 180 for me, and the season.
Only 16-points separate Reed and Windham with only two rounds remaining before the season finale in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 3.
