Reed got the Indy holeshot and then cruised back to the top of the rostrum, earning his first career Indy victory in the premier class.
Chad Reed got back to being Chad Reed at the Indianapolis RCA Dome. The Australian rider and current Supercross points leader motored to a flag-to-flag win in the main event. In the Lites class, it was Honda upstart Trey Canard who motored to his second consecutive victory.
Reed got to business right from the get go, snagging the holeshot just ahead of Ryan Dungey, who was riding in his first career SX on the 450 machine. Once 22 got the lead, he pinned it to victory.
"I struggled with the track in practice," said Reed on his first career Indy win in the premier class. "In the main event, I was able to put it together. I wanted to win the holeshot and get this win here at the RCA Dome. I have never won here before tonight."
While Reed was out in front, it got interesting behind. Davi Millsaps, winner of last week's race, was charging forward, but crashed out of the position. Instead Yoncolla Oregon's Josh Hill swept into the number-2 spot where he would finish the race. Honda's Andrew Short secured the final podium spot.
Ryan Dungey tallied an impressive debut on the 450, with the West Coast Lites rider and Suzuki rookie earning a fourth-place finish. Kevin Windam rounded out the top five.
Reed has now extended his lead to an impressive 34 points over Windham.
Supercross Lites
The Lites class saw Canard cruise to yet another victory. First Canard moved into the early lead with the holeshot, followed by Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Branden Jesseman and heavy East Coast favorite Ryan Villopoto.
The red-headed Honda riding Canard rode onto the win after some key crashes. The first involved Canard, as Villopoto crashed the two out in a move for the lead. When they got back on their 250s Jesseman had bolted out to the lead. Canard tracked down the leader, who had crashed out of the lead himself, while Villopoto had to settle for second-place.

Someone forgot to tell Honda's Trey Canard that Ryan Villopoto was going to cruise to an easy East Coast Lites title.
"I received a couple presents out there tonight with Jesseman crashing," said Canard, who now has a surprising two-race winning streak. "I tried to ride hard and smart, but I am really excited about this win. These last two weeks have been amazing."
The amazing results after two weeks leaves Canard with a 14-point lead in the championship over Ryan Sipes. Villopoto isn't within championship spitting distance yet, mired back in ninth with 22 points.
