Paul Robinson took an emotional win in the 125cc class - 2010 North West 200
Paul Robinson took an emotional win in the 125 race at the North West 200.
In the four-lap 125cc contest, Paul Robinson took the checkers ahead of Jon Vincent and Renzo Van der Donckt. The son of famed Armoy Armada member Mervyn Robinson (the other members of the Armada being Frank Kennedy and brothers Joey and Jim Dunlop) took the win after the defending 125cc winner, William Dunlop, pulled out of contention on Lap 2.

Another favored rider running into trouble was Chris Palmer, who dropped from third to a DNF in the closing laps. Meanwhile Sam Dunlop (son of Jim) finished in sixth.

Robinson's victory was an emotional one for the local man. The son of Mervyn Robinson, it was the very North West 200 course that took the life of his father 30 years ago. Then five year's old, Robinson waited for his father to come by while doing a lap of the near 9-mile circuit. But the elder Robinson had died in a crash at Mather's Corner.

Robinson also claims the Dunlops as kin, with his mother being the sister of Joey and Robert Dunlop, who also died road racing (the former in Estonia and the latter at the North West 200 in 2008.
