This is what they call the domino effect. - Assen
Valentino Rossi and Mr. Crash himself Randy de Puniet hit the deck at the start of the Dutch TT in Assen.
With the 2009 season looming and ready to start this weekend in Qatar we thought it would be cool to take a look at one of the more interesting facts from the 2008 season: Crashes!

Loads of rain and highly completive racing made ‘08 a season full of smash-ups. Here is a quick numbers breakdown of how many machines hit the ground. Let’s just say it was an expensive year for bodywork manufacturers!

Total crashes: 876 (MotoGP – 154; 250cc GP – 259; 125cc GP – 463)
Single event with the highest number of crashes: Phillip Island – 76
MotoGP rider with the most get-offs: Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda) – 22
