Motorcycle Designed for Paraplegic Rider

Your friendly scribe SteveO here. I just caught wind of this motorcycle-related project from my former school, the University of Minnesota. It’s from a group of engineering students called “Team Motorcycle” and is designed to enable a disabled paraplegic the ability to ride again. Tim Bettger, one of the students, explains the machine in this video. Bettger is a disabled rider himself, so the project was especially important for him.

Not only does it improve lap times if done right, but as Hiemer puts it, “If you are able to drift properly, you simply look much cooler than your mates.” Very true indeed...

Check out a quick first look at the Tech 3 MotoGP team’s all-new Moto2 prototype. The bike will be raced next year by Japanese rider Yuki Takahashi and Italian Raffaele de Rosa. The Tech 3 teams bring a wealth of 250cc GP as well as recent MotoGP experience into the all-new class for 2010. Expect them to be front-runners right from the very start of the season .
