After years of development Oakley has released the production version of its all-new
Airbrake MX goggle. The eyewear provides off-road riders greater protection from dirt, rocks and debris while simultaneously enhancing vision.
“Not since the early days of motocross has a single goggle design brought so much innovation,” said Oakley CEO Colin Baden. “Our goal was to invent a goggle that would make riders invincible, and make ordinary goggles obsolete. Armed with all the benefits of decades of Oakley R&D, Airbrake MX is a true game-changer. Every other goggle is now competing for second place.”
Oakley supplied us a pre-production set and after a few weeks of use it is safe to say that it has elevated the standard of what we as riders expect from a motocross goggle. The biggest feature is the greater field of vision in terms of line of sight (top-to-bottom) and peripheral (side).
This helps the rider react faster to obstacles and the movements of riders ahead. Another plus is the added frame/lens rigidity which shields the rider’s face from fast moving rocks kicked up from the knobby rear tires of motorcycles.
