I see. For some reason i was under the assumption that the banana/boomerang shaped swingarm was the new way to go, and there was some significance in the fact that the steering stem bolt and the rear axle were directly connected along a hypothetical hypotenuse that can be traced through the upper portion of the chassis and continuing down through the swingarm. But maybe I shouldn't believe everything I read in manufacturer press releases because that's what I remember reading when the first crop bikes with that style of swingarm came out. I'll look up the TL. I was too young to remember it when it came out. I know what it is though (suzuki 1 litre twin).

The swingarm is bridged as in current sportbike design, but the bridge is on bottom instead of on top (see TL1000r). Watch closely at 1:01 to see the lower bridge.

interesting flat R1 style swingarm. Is the Banana swing-arm, as seen on the old YZR500 and the recent crop of street bikes now obsolete in favor of a more traditional style?
