New SoCal Road Course Opens in April
Tuesday, March 16, 2010
There is very little that gets yours truly more excited than the word of a new Southern California road racing course. As much as we love Willow Springs, Buttonwillow and Auto Club Speedway, after umpteen years things have gotten a tad stale around here. Enter Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. While talk has been in the works for some time now, I try to not get too excited until pavement is laid and dates are set. Well, pavement is down…and dates are in the books. And I can't wait!
Micky Grana from SoCal Trackdays put the project together and it’s now become a reality. Located outside Palm Springs, California, pavement was just finalized on the 2.68-mile, 17-turn GP course, with track days and school dates starting as early as April. Judging by the video (below) it looks smooth, wide and very high-speed – just how we like it. They also have much more planned for the complex, including additional track layouts as well as a club house. CVR looks to be a true first-class racing facility in the works.
MotoUSA will be one of first ones out to CVR for their opening media day at the beginning of April, so stay tuned for a full review of the track shortly after. For now, to get a full schedule and more information, be sure to visit:

Well done, Micky! Especially considering our tough economic times. The man put his money where his mouth is...
