2010 Modified Supersport Shootout Begins!
Monday, May 24, 2010
Kawasaki's ZX-6R stood on top in stock form last year. Can it do the same when modified? Stay tuned to find out!
You the readers asked for it so we at MotoUSA
are making it happen: A Modified Supersport Shootout!
The premises for this massive test is that each bike gets a full-system exhaust, ECU or piggyback Power Commander and gearing, after which time we will put them through two days of rigorous testing at both Streets of Willow and Willow Springs. This will give us a mix of high-speed and tight-and-technical riding, to see how all the 2010 Japanese middleweights (the Suzuki is a ‘09) stack up after they have been altered in some of the more common ways possible – with an exhaust and gearing to match each track.
All four bikes will be put through our full shootout schedule, complete with data acquisition and Superpole, during which time we will use 16 sets of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa DOT race rubber. The testing will take place tomorrow (5/25) at Willow Springs and then the following day (5/26) at Streets of Willow. This is the exact the process we put all of these same machines through in stock form last year in the 2009 Supersport Shootout
, thus giving us the ability to directly compare data of stock vs. modified.
This is a first for us, putting on a complete shootout with modifications allowed to each machine, and I can assure you that we’re equally as excited as you to see the results. So be sure to stay tuned to the MotoUSA twitter
for live at-the-track updates of our progress, with the story to follow mid-June!
