Supersport Shootout Phase One in the Books

Thursday, February 19, 2009

The contenders!
Phase One of our annual Supersport shootout is in the books. We broke the banks and rented Willow Springs Raceway for two full days, testing the six latest and greatest middleweight machines made, running through 48 tires in the process to bring you the ’09 edition of this massive test.

By far the biggest and best to date, so far everything has gone off without a hitch. Next up is extensive street riding and performance testing (drag strip, top speed), followed by video finalization (plus writing the story!) and posting for your viewing pleasure. We know you guys love the shootouts and I can assure you we are hard at work to hammer this bad boy out as soon as humanly possible while still making sure it’s the most extensive test in the motorcycle world. Stay tuned!

Jay -Where are the results?? February 26, 2009 01:18 PM
Anxiously awaiting the results. Kind of dissappointed to see a snow motorcycle shootout review completed before this one:( Fluff???
SCBonneville -Why is the GSXR-750 missing fro the shootout? February 22, 2009 03:36 AM
>dgover - So I notice that you included the Ducati 848 but the GSXR-750 missing. What gives?< Well, probably because this is a test of "middleweight" sportbikes and they are following the AMA Formula Extreme qualifications of cylinder/displacement "normalization"... Besides, they have the GSXR600 in the test already...

Steve Atlas -RE: Rich - Shootouts February 21, 2009 11:51 AM
Rich, Unfortunately, you are going to have a wait a bit for the Superbikes. Due to Suzuki's late release of the '09 GSX-R1000(Mladin and Hayden will be on '08s at Daytona cause of it) we will be doing our shootout April 20th. It's the earliest we could get the Suzuki. But don't worry, it's going to be the biggest and best yet!
