Kawasaki has totally redesigned its flagship
Superbike for 2011 and here are more photos of the new ZX-10R racer from its recent test at Suzuka. Long-time factory Kawasaki racer and test rider Akira Yanagawa is one of the riders being used for the development of the new Ninja and is pictured here (green helmet); we're not sure who the other rider is. It looks like this bike is being developed with heavy emphasis on its race-trim performance. Works Showa suspension,
World Superbike-spec monobloc Brembo brakes and sensors on the front brake rotors for TC (Traction Control) are plainly visible. It’s highly doubtful any of these very high-end components will make it on the street version due to sheer cost (TC excluded, as we hear that
will be on the production machine), showing that Kawasaki appears to be doing most of its R&D on the
2011 ZX-10R as a race bike and may then convert it to street use. That’s not to say the production version isn’t being tested behind closed doors. In fact, more than likely it has been in development for quite some time now, we just don't get to see it yet...
