Jeff "Ox" Kargola (on left) passed away this Friday while riding in Baja California, Mexico.
MotoUSA has just learned that FMX and off-road motorcycle racing star Jeff “Ox” Kargola passed away today while riding in Mexico. Kargola was participating in the 2011 Monster Energy Rip to the Tip adventure ride. Details are few at this moment, but the word is Ox crashed in a section of whoops and passed away enroute to the hospital.
The 27-year-old San Clemente resident was a jack-of-all-trades racer that competed in freestyle motocross, AMA District 37 desert races, X Games, and LOORRS truck racing. He was also a member of the Metal Mulisha and was highly regarded in the off-road motorcycle community.

This is the official statement to the off road, motocross and action sports communities. Today while riding with friends and family outside of San Felipe, Jeff “Ox” Kargola crashed while riding his dirt bike. Jeff was attended to by medical personnel on site and was transported via helicopter to the San Felipe hospital where he passed away due to his injuries.
He passed early this afternoon with his best friends Cameron Steele, Ryan Hagy, Chad Peebles, Ryan Cropley, Rich Niggemann, Mark Moss and Trigger Gumm.
“Words can’t express the emotions I am feeling. I love Jeff like a son and he was riding with all of his best friends he grew up with in San Clemente,” said Cameron Steele.
