SERT wins the 2012 WEC Championship.
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team clinched the 2012 World Endurance title at the Le Mans 24 Hour race.
The Suzuki Endurance Racing Team clinched the 2012 World Endurance Championship title with their second-place finish at the Le Mans 24-Hour race in France. The SRC Kawasaki team beat out the Suzuki riders in a close finish and BMW Motorrad France rounded out the podium.

"The main goal was to win the world title but we staked everything on the race win, as we really wanted to win our home race at Le Mans - and we didn't miss it by much," said SERT Team Manager Dominque Meliand.

SERT came off the start and led briefly, trading positions with the SRC team a number of times. The Kawasaki riders went on to command the front for much of the contest but SERT battled back and gained the lead late in the race. Due to a rule infringement during a pit stop, SERT was penalized back to second but still finished just 1.02 minutes behind SRC.

'It’s a really sweet sensation," said SRC Kawasaki rider Julien da Costa. "Of course I’m sore and tired but I like this feeling tonight. From the start of the race till the chequered flag we did it flat out ! We need to wait for next weekend for my Superbike crown but we absolutely will have a big party to celebrate this fantastic win and also a fantastic year. I would like to thank all the team and especially all mechanics for the superb job done."

Yamaha France GMT too fourth, followed by the Honda TT Legends team. 6 National Motos took sixth followed by MCP Starteam in seventh and Louit Moto 33 in eighth. Penzl13 Kraftwerk and RAC 41 took ninth and 10th respectively.

SERT finishes 24 points ahead of BMW Motorrad and collects its 12th World Endurance Championship title. Yamaha GMT 94 ends the season in third and Honda TT Legends sits one point behind in fourth.
