With seven grueling stages in the books, Dakar Rally competitors will have a single day to recuperate and prepare for the last half of the raid. Marc Coma currently leads the field on his Repsol KTM. While the Spaniard’s lead is comfortable, the battle for the podium is fierce between American Jonah Street and Frenchman David Fretigne in second and third, respectively. They are separated by only a minute at this halfway mark. Pan Anders Ullevalseter is holding off Jordi Viladoms for fourth by even less - only 18 seconds!

The 2009 Dakar Rally has proven to be eventful and exciting thus far. Check back tomorrow as racing resumes in Chile on Sunday, Jan 11.
