Construction at the new Daytona International Speedway quarter mile dirt track continues as lime rock is now in place.
The new quarter-mile dirt track at Daytona International Speedway is beginning to take shape.

All of the lime rock for the quarter-mile track that will be used for motorcycle and high-performance kart racing is in place and graded. This week, construction crews are completing the following tasks:

• Infield area is being graded and sod installed
• Perimeter road base will be installed
• Installation of the electrical system for lights and timing and scoring continues

The new dirt track will have more than 5,000 temporary seats and lighting will be provided by Musco Lighting.
Construction on the quarter-mile dirt track will be complete in time for the upcoming Daytona KartWeek By Cometic Gasket on Dec. 28-30 as well as the March 3-4 AMA Pro Racing Flat Track motorcycle events, which are a part of 2010 Daytona 200 Week By Honda.
