The Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com
made the switch to Twins Half Mile at the Allen County Fairgrounds Half Mile in Lima, Ohio this weekend. Asserting his dominance in the main was Harley-Davidson’s
Henry Wiles, who led the 25-lap event from

beginning to end. Over six and a half seconds behind Wiles was Sammy Halbert on his Kings Kustoms / KK Motorcycle Supply Harley-Davidson.
"I love this place, said Wiles. “This is my kind of track and the fans really get into it. I can see them hanging on the fence all the way around. I just tried to get away in the National. It seemed like I was in lapped traffic real soon. It was like, this isn't the heat race, these are the best of the best. This is really just great, now we've got to get it together for the groove tracks coming up."
Wiles couldn’t have exceeded his performance in Ohio as he set the fastest time in qualifying, won the fastest heat and grabbed the five points along with the $2,000 cash prize in the Dash For Cash event.
Leading the field into Turn 1, Wiles was followed by Joe Kopp on his Lloyd Brothers Motorsports Ducati
, Sammy Halbert, Jake Johnson and defending Twins series champion Jared Mees on his Rogers Lake Racing / Blue Springs Harley-Davidson.
Wiles quickly pulled away from the group while Halbert did the same from second-place. By Lap 15 both encountered intense lapped-traffic, but it wasn’t a problem for Wiles as he expertly maneuvered through the herd. Behind Wiles and
Bryan Smith win a heated battle against Jake Johnson, but lost his final podium spot to Matt Weidman.
Halbert a battle broke out for third as Johnson, Bryan Smith, Mees and Matt Weidman all struggled for position.
Looking to put his Kawasaki
on the podium for the second time in a row was Smith, who traded places with Johnson around the track on multiple occasions. In the end, however, it was Weidman who stole third from both and earned his first ever Grand National podium finish.
After qualifying for the main by finishing second in a semi-final heat, Kenny Coolbeth wasn’t able to get higher than 13th in the main event.
“We didn’t get settled in for qualifying, and had to go through the semi, which put us in the back row for the start,” said Coolbeth’s crew Chief Craig Lager. “That’s a tough spot to be in on this track and we made the best of it. Kenny got around a few riders and we ran at a good pace but it was really hard to make a pass because the track is rough and visibility is not great.”
As a result of winning three out of the last four races, Wiles has moved into a points tie in the Grand National Championship series with Joe Kopp at 129 points. Johnson remains eight points behind in third with 121 points followed by Halbert and Mees. Three-time Grand National winner Coolbeth is 31 points off the leader and is currently sixth in the championship.

Defending champion Brad Baker took a dominant win in the Pro Singles class ahead of Kawasaki's Chaz Springsteen.
The Defending Pro Singles champion Brad Baker was equally dominant as Wiles when he took control of the 12-lap Motorcycle-Superstore.com Pro Singles Main. Baker and his Rod Lake / Mike Velasco Racing / Brothers Powersports Honda were way out in front and took the win ahead of a heated battle for second. ANT-Racing.com's James Rispoli appeared to have second-place secure, but eventually Monster Energy Kawasaki/Werner Springsteen Racing's Chaz Springsteen made the pass on Rispoli during Lap 11 as did Mike LaBelle.
Championship leader Jeffery Carver experienced a difficult night after he finished seventh. Despite his result at Lima, Carver still holds a 24-point lead over Baker, and Rispoli remains just seven points behind in third.
The AMA Grand National Twins will next race on July 10 at the I-96 Speedway half-mile in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
