Joe Kopp (#3) and Kenny Coolbeth Jr. (#2) exchanged the lead at least three different times with Kopp making the final pass for the win.
After the much anticipated return of Flat Track
to Northern California at the Calistoga Half-Mile last weekend the AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship relocated to Maryland at the Hagerstown Speedway for Round 10. Dead-set on having a better performance this round championship leader Joe Kopp rebounded from a disappointing round in California to take the Hagerstown checkers. Joining Kopp on the podium were Kenny Coolbeth and Jared Mees.
The first attempt at starting the contest ended quickly when Zanotti Racing's Jake Johnson crashed in the first turn. Scott Powersports' Johnny Lewis and Dave Burks Motorsport's Mick Kirkness were caught in Johnson’s crash, forcing the red flag to be issued. All three riders managed to make it back in the restart, with Johnson having to use his back-up bike.
In the restart Kenny Coolbeth got off to a quick start and led for the first two laps. Stevie Bonsey brought out the red flag again, however, when he crashed out in Turn 3. Although he was uninjured, Bonsey was unable to make it in the second restart of the day.
Coolbeth was once again quick off the line with Kopp close behind. Snedeker Racing's Rob Pearson was putting in a great ride at Hangerstown in third-place, but on Lap 10 Jared Mees swept around him to take the final podium position aboard his Rogers Lake Racing/Blue Springs Harley-Davidson
The battle for the lead intensified with Coolbeth and Kopp exchanging the lead on at least three separate occasions. Kopp managed to make his pass stick for good on Lap 20.
While in fourth-place Pearson was under pressure from Kings Kustoms' Sammy Halbert and Kawasaki
Monster Energy rider Bryan Smith. Despite this, Pearson rode well defensively and held onto fourth across the finish line with Halbert and Smith taking fifth and sixth respectively. After crashing earlier in the evening, Johnson took seventh ahead of Henry Wiles and Michael Kirkness.

Pro Singles event Van's Yamaha
rider Jeffrey Carver made progress in the point standings by taking a come-from-behind victory over ANT-Racing Honda
’s James Rispoli and Mike Velasco Honda’s Brad Baker. Rispoli had the lead in the early half of the race, but Carver’s determination proved too much for the Honda rider as he had to settle for second across the line. Further back in third was Baker, who barely could hold off Mack Daddy Racing’s Mike Avila.
With this win Carver now leads the series by 31 points over Baker.
