On Lap 11 Kenny Coolbeth Jr. made a pass on Jake Johnson and led for the remaining half of the race at the Minneapolis Mile.
After a 13-year stint away from Canterbury Park, the 2010 Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com revisited the Minnesota Mile. Harley-Davidson Motor Company's Kenny Coolbeth took a well-earned victory in Round 15 ahead of Zanotti Racing's by more than three seconds. The podium was rounded out by Rogers Lake Racing/Blue Springs Harley-Davidson's Jared Mees, who finished more than 7.5 seconds adrift of Coolbeth.

Coolbeth started the event far back in the field, and managed to work his way through the pack to close in on his rivals.

"We really needed this, we've been so close," said Coolbeth. "When I passed Jared (Mees), I signaled him to get in line so we could run down the leaders, but it didn't work out. The next thing I knew I was passing (Matt) Weidman and closing on Jake (Johnson). I was following Jake and he started to use my line and I almost hit him, but then I was able to get by and then it was just clear sailing, just had to stay consistent. It was hard to see that outside berm and you had to be real careful not to get in too hot."

Johnson initially had the holeshot at the beginning of the event, and soon afterward became involved in a struggle with Greg Crow Racing/White's Harley-Davidson's Matt Weidman for the lead. Meanwhile, Coolbeth was gradually making his way up and eyeing the pair as they separated themselves from the pack. Once Coolbeth made it into second he wasted very little time tracking the leader down. By Lap 11, he had taken over the lead from Johnson and never looked back.

Further back Weidman allowed Mees to take over third-place on Lap 13. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Bryan Smith and Lancaster Harley-Davidson's Chris Carr then smelled blood in the water, and took advantage of Mees’ pass begin pressuring the #42 bike.

Despite having mechanical problems earlier in the night, KK Motorcycle Supply/Mike & Eddie Adkins' Henry Wiles was a man on a mission in the main, and cut ahead of Weidman on Lap 22 to secure fourth-place at the finish line. Weidman took fifth 3.3 seconds behind, followed by Smith and Carr in fifth and sixth respectively.

Championship leader Joe Kopp was up front early in the contest, but scraped off his brake lever On Lap 2 and had to ride the remaining race with no brakes. His night ended, however, when his chain broke while in a battle for eighth-place.
