Chris Borich takes the championship
Chris Borich has broken Ballance's championship streak.
Now that Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Chris Borich has clinched the 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series Championship, other riders looking to take the championship will instead be gunning for wins.
Borich could decide to take it easy the last two rounds of the series, and riders like FRE KTM's Adam McGill, previous Defending Champion Bill Ballance and Yamaha's Taylor Kiser will hope to grab the last two wins of the season.

McGill, Kiser and Ballance have been some of Borich's toughest competition through the season and all three will have a particular reason to try to nab a win before the season is over. McGill has yet to take home a win but has been close several times. McGill and Borich dueled at the Can-Am Unadilla GNCC most recently, and McGill almost took a win home that day. Then again, at the Moose Racing Yadkin Valley stomp, he was just seconds behind Borich around the last turn. McGill is determined to take a win home and with just two races left, he will be sure to make a wide open charge to the finish line before his time runs out.

Ballance who struggled for weeks after having injured ribs surgically removed was welcomed back to the podium to applause.
Ballance will continue to salvage his season and decide if he wants to return in 2010 to reclaim his title.
Nine-time-GNCC ATV Champion Ballance lost the championship for the first time in a decade when Borich won last weekend at Yadkin Valley. Ballance has steadily improved as the season has progressed and has been on the podium for the past three races. These last two rounds may help Ballance determine whether or not he will return next year for a chance to reclaim the championship, especially if he ends the season with two wins.

And then Kiser, who had the best chance of toppling Borich's championship dreams, hasn't had a win since the first round in Florida. If Borich's guard is down these last two races, or if he decides to take it easier, these three will be sure to make an out-and-out run to the finish line making for exciting action to the end.

Yamaha's Brandon Sommers and Houser Racing's Bryan Cook will also be looking to take home wins now that they no longer have to worry about taking the championship. Sommers has yet to win a race and Cook hasn't been on the podium since his spectacular win at Steele Creek, but he has been close a number of times, and bides his time in fourth.
Brandon Sommers has collected three-straight podiums - Moutain Ridge ATV GNCC
With the race for third place very close one. With Brandon Sommers currently in fifth; a third place finish on the season isn't impossible.

They have two rounds in order to make their final bids before the season ends.

Spectator passes run $15 for the full weekend, with pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge. On both Saturday and Sunday, youth riders race at 8 a.m., beginner riders race at 10 a.m., and the top amateurs and the pros race at 1 p.m.

The track is located at Exit 213 off Ohio I-70. Take Route 331 N. just a few yards and make a right onto Hammond Rd for approximately 1 mile. Then left at Lee Road for another one-half mile. Track is on the right. Track is roughly 15 miles west of Wheeling, WV.
