After a solid top-five finish in the 2008 AMA Arenacross Series championship, Team Faith Yamaha’s Kevin Johnson is ready to make an all-out run for his first championship in 2009.
One of the most consistent riders in the series, Johnson grabbed two race wins last season. After capturing a gold medal at this summer’s X Games, Johnson tasted heightened success and readjusted his focus for the upcoming season.
“Even though our deal for this season came together pretty late, I’m definitely ready for 2009,” said Johnson. “In the past I participated in the FMX demos at some of the (arenacross) races. This year I’m not doing that and I’m putting all my focus on the championship. With a smaller schedule, it is going to take more dedication to come out on top.”
Team Faith returns for 2009 essentially unchanged from the previous season. With continued support from FLY Racing, Michelin, and Johnson’s father’s Bobby J’s Yamaha dealership, the team will undoubtedly be the front of the pack at each of the 11 races.
“We are happy to have everyone back on board,” stated Team Manager Brian O’Rourke. “With the tough economy, we surely could not do this without our sponsors. Kevin is a very talented rider and since there is a little more time to prepare for beginning of the season, I expect he will be at the peak of his game by the time we got to Grand Rapids.”
