Bobby Garrison took his second overall win at Race Town 395.
Bobby Garrison took his second overall win of the 2012 WORCS season in Round 6 at Race Town 395.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Bobby Garrison stepped up with a great performance at round six of the WORCS Series to take his second overall win of the season at Race Town in Adelanto. It wasn’t an easy weekend for Garrison who had to battle from a poor start in the first race to move up to third by the end of the event. Then in the second race, Garrison started well but found himself in a duel with teammate Taylor Robert. Robert was riding flawlessly for most of the race, but a leaky head gasket overheated his engine and sometime after the one hour mark Robert’s motor gave out and he pushed the 450 back to the pits. Garrison found himself alone out front and easily took the second race win to clinch the overall victory.

“I didn’t want to win it by seeing Taylor break,” said Garrison. “We had a good race going and I wanted to beat him straight up. This is my kind of track and I’m glad to put a Kawasaki on the top of the podium.”

WORCS had put up a $7,000 purse for the Pro class with $2,000 specifically earmarked for the top three privateers. Robby Bell happily stepped up and had his best finish of the year by going 2-2 for second overall and pocketed more than $1,000 of the Top Privateer cash in addition to his second place earnings.

“I finally quit chasing my tail,” said Bell. “I changed my diet and got serious about training and it paid off this weekend. It’s been a long time since I’ve stood on a WORCS podium and it feels great to be up here.”

Third place went to Justin Soule who relentlessly moved up in both races to garner another podium and move into third in the point’s case.

Taylor Robert won race one on Saturday and was leading race two just in front of Garrison when his engine sputtered to a stop late in the event. He had put in enough laps to score points in the second race and with his first race victory still managed to garner fourth overall for the weekend.

Fifth place went to JCR/Honda’s Timmy Weigand who returned to WORCS racing and earned some of the privateer cash for himself. Sixth fell to Ryan Abbatoye, who also earned some top privateer money, with Corey Floyd seventh, Gary Sutherlin eighth, Josh Strang ninth and Robbie Goolsby rounding out the top ten.

Robert leads the WORCS Pro Championship with 259/3 wins ahead of Garrison with 235/2 wins. Soule is third in the title chase with 211 and Mike Brown sits fourth with 196/1 win
