Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Taylor Robert claimed his fifth win of the 2012 season at WORCS Round 8 in Pala, California. Robert beat out Precision Concepts’ Robby Bell who went 2-2 through the weekend. Robert’s teammate Bobby Garrison went 5-3, earning him third overall despite riding with a shoulder injury.

“I really enjoyed this course,” said Robert. “The MX tracks are all linked together and the off-road section is tough. The other guys didn’t make it easy for me either; Robby Bell gave me a race in both motos. I don’t want to jinx it, but the team has worked hard for the WORCS Championship and we got a little closer today. We’ve just got to finish the season strong.”

Garrison remains the only rider with the potential to frustrate Robert’s campaign for the WORCS title. But with two rounds remaining, the 55-point gap between the two will be difficult for Garrison to overcome.

“I’m racing for the WORCS Championship and I’m still in it,” said Garrison. “My shoulder is a small problem, it doesn’t hurt so much anymore but it goes numb after a while and is hard to hold on.”

While Bell had an impressive showing at Pala, challenging Robert numerous times for the lead, his second-place finish still leaves him 99 points off the lead. At this point in the season, Bell is battling hard through the races but is also working on tuning his mental and physical fitness in hopes of scoring a win.

“I’m training really hard and I’ve improved my diet and attitude,” said Bell. “It’s paying off and most importantly I’m really having fun racing. Racing is a lot more fun when you finish on the podium. Now I want to win one of these.”

JCR Honda’s Colton Udall had an impressive showing, going 3-5 to score fourth overall ahead of FMF/KTM’s Josh Strang in fifth. Three Kawasaki riders followed, rounding out the top eight: Gary Sutehrlin in sixth, Ryan Abbatoye in seventh and Jacob Argubright in eighth.

The penultimate WORCS race of 2012 will take place at Cahuilla Creek Motocross Park in Anza, California August 10-12.
