The best
motocross racers in the world will be coming to Southern California's Glen Helen Raceway to contest the sixth round of the
MX1 World Championship on May 29-30th. This event also marks the return of the historic U.S. Grand Prix (USGP) concept of pitting America's best against the world!
Tickets go on sale Friday, April 9th, for the "Race of the Century" as the event is being billed. Co-promoted by Bud Feldkamp, president of Glen Helen Raceway, and Giuseppe Luongo, president of Youthstream, the USGP at Glen Helen recreates a slice of history.
Last contested at Glen Helen back in 1992, the return of the USGP to Southern California is a fitting tribute to the 30th anniversary of an American first winning the USGP at the old Carlsbad track when a hometown hero Marty Moates piloted his privateer LOP Yamaha to victory. Feldkamp is one of those who remembers what a monumental achievement it was and hopes to recreate that magic. "It has been a life-long dream of mine and the staff to have this extraordinary World Championship event at Glen Helen. This will give motocross fans across the U.S. an opportunity to see our top American riders compete against the MX champions from around the world on U.S. soil."
On April 9th tickets become available at the Glen Helen website
www.glenhelen.com as well as at participating local Yamaha dealers. Reserved camping will also go on sale April 9, 2010 at $50 per spot.
