
Finland's Juha Salminen moved into second on Friday after taking the third-best time during the fifth day of competition.
As the ISDE competition reaches its final days of competition, France still leads the charge ahead of Italy and Finland. The fifth day of racing saw France’s lead ahead of Italy swell to more than 10 minutes, while Finland still holds onto the final podium position with more than 14 minutes to make up on the French squad. Team USA also saw their time deficit to the leaders increase on Day 5, which is now at more than 26 minutes. Meanwhile, in the Junior Trophy division the Americans retained third behind Spain and Sweden, with Taylor Robert continuing to post the fastest time in his class for the third straight day.
Action in the Women’s Cup was once again controlled by France who increased their lead over the Americans to more than an hour and 10 minutes. France remains the only team with a 3-person crew, which has led to a major advantage over other teams. The podium is currently rounded out by Sweden, who saw their time deficit to the Americans increase by a margin of a few minutes on the fifth day.

In the E1 class Antoine Meo still controls the pace after running more than 12 seconds faster than Finland’s Eero Remes. This is the fourth straight day that Meo and France have led the E1 class, and the result is more than a 36-second lead over the field heading into the sixth and final day of the event. Friday via Kurt Caselli’s time of 33:19.24. Caselli posted the fasted time for the Americans, and he now trails Meo by more than three minutes with just a day left.
Remaining Americans Mike Brown and Ian Blythe weren’t too far behind in fourth and seventh respectively. Brown was just 2.22 seconds behind Caselli, and the newcomer moved up to sixth overall after fighting back from a poor performance during Day 4. Meanwhile, Blythe trailed the leader’s time by more than a minute, but held onto seventh in the class.

For the fifth consecutive day France’s Johnny Aubert put the moves on the competition and was the fastest. With a total time of 3:17:25.40 Aubert now leads the E2 class by more than five minutes. Rodrig Thain made it a 1-2 day for France by posting the second-best time, which was more than 39 seconds adrift of Aubert’s lightning-fast pace. Squeezing into the top-three on Friday was Finland rider, Juha Salminen. The Husqvarna rider was just 0.46 seconds behind Thain, and is running second his class.
For the Americans Taylor Robert took seventh after being more than a minute adrift of Aubert on Day 5. However, the remaining Americans struggled in the E2 class with Destry Abbott and Jimmy Jarrett finishing up in 14th and 18th, respectively. Overall, Robert remains the closest American behind Aubert with a time difference of more than eight minutes with only day remaining.

Johnny Aubert continued his rule in the E2 class, taking the fastest time by more than 39 seconds during Day 5.

For the second day in a row Christophe Nambotin has taken the win in the E3 class. The Frenchman posted a time of 33:00.14, with fellow Frenchman, Sebastien Guillaume, coming within 11 seconds of the winning time. Overall Guillaume still holds the lead but the two remain separated by just over 38 seconds, with Oriol Mena of Spain lurking in second and less than 34 seconds behind the leader. Simone Luca Albergoni of Italy took third place during the fifth day. With only one day of racing left Albergoni is fourth and is trailing the final podium spot by more than a minute and a half.

France's Sebastien Guillaume continues to lead after five days in the E3 class with the fastest time of 3:19:21.66.
Meanwhile, American rider Nathan Woods finished the day in ninth again and remains more than five minutes adrift of the leader.
