Russell Bobbitt tears though the course winning four of the six special tests.
Defending Champion, Shock Doctor/KTM rider Russell Bobbitt won his third race of the season at the fifth round of the AMA National Enduro Series.
Bobbitt controlled the race from start to finish winning four of the six special tests. The other two tests were won by his teammate, eight-time National Enduro Champion, Mike Lafferty. “I had a good day and felt great. My KTM was running perfect and the course conditions were really good,” commented Bobbitt.
Lafferty had a few problems getting his bike set up properly after he decided to switch bikes this weekend. “We got the bike running perfect by the end of the race but unfortunately I struggled with my set up early on,” stated Lafferty. After sitting in 3rd for the majority of the race, Lafferty put together two great tests near the end of the day to take 2nd overall.
With five rounds down, Bobbitt leads Lafferty by 10 points in the championship chase. The next round will take place in Upton, Wyoming on June 21, 2009.

Nick Fahringer finishes in the top-5 for the first time this season.
Factory Husaberg rider Nick Fahringer earned his highest finish of the season this weekend when he earned 4th overall at the fifth round of the AMA National Enduro Series.
“I’ve always been somewhat of a slow starter so my first few special test times weren’t great but as the day continued I improved and finished 3rd fastest in a couple of the sections,” commented Fahringer.
Fahringer described the course as a mix of everything. “There were fast sections, rocky sections, up hills and down hills, clay sections and creek beds. It was definitely the most diverse and most fun race of the season.” He continued, “I was having so much fun on the final test that I rode into the check point doing a stoppie only to realize that another rider had come to a dead stop right after the check. I couldn’t stop soon enough and I rammed into the back of him. I guess I am always the one to put on a good show.”
Husaberg support rider Rory Sullivan put in a good ride at the West Point Enduro. He finished 10th overall for the day and currently sits 10th overall in points.
After five rounds, Fahringer remains 5th in points only 7 points behind Jason Raines. “I am looking to finish on the podium this season and hope that I can do that as the series heads out west for the next round.”
